CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

Clinical Psychology

Courage begins the moment a man accepts a duty larger than his own comfort. Joab stands between two armies, outnumbered, and he does not calculate his odds. He binds himself to his people and their cities, and only then can he act without paralysis. A man who fights for something beyond himself stops asking whether he will win.

The last clause is the hardest part. Do everything within your power, then release the outcome. You are responsible for the effort and not the result, and that division is what keeps a person sane under pressure. Aim upward, work hard, and let what follows follow.

  1. Pick the one task today you have been circling because you cannot guarantee it will go well. Do your honest best on it for an hour, send it, and then leave it alone instead of refreshing for a response.
  2. When someone close to you is struggling, say the true thing you have been holding back, kindly and plainly, and then stop managing their reaction. Your part was the saying.
  3. In the meeting where you expect pushback, make your case once, as clearly as you can, and then let the room decide. Walking out without having argued yourself hoarse is not losing.

Where am I exhausting myself trying to control a result that was never mine to control?
