1 Corinthians 15:20 Meaning But Now Christ Has Been Raised From

But now Christ has been raised from the dead. He became the first fruits of those who are asleep.

What does 1 Corinthians 15:20 mean?

Christ is not a man who lived long ago but your own human imagination, the one power that shapes everything you meet. To be raised from the dead is to wake from the sleep that mistakes this world for the whole of life and to know yourself as the imagining source of it.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

Christ is not a man who lived long ago but your own human imagination, the one power that shapes everything you meet. To be raised from the dead is to wake from the sleep that mistakes this world for the whole of life and to know yourself as the imagining source of it. This is not a lesson about someone else; the drama unfolds inside the reader as his own awakening.

Firstfruits names the first of a harvest, the early sheaf that shows the rest of the field is ripening. So the first to wake is the pattern for all who still sleep. He shows what each one is becoming. Everyone lies dreaming in this life until his own imagination stirs and rises, and then he stands where the firstfruits stood.

Live 1 Corinthians 15:20 today

  1. Sometime today, probably with your phone in your hand, stop and ask what in you is aware of all this. Stay with that for ten seconds before you scroll on.
  2. Let one person see you awake today. Be the one in the group chat who is clearly not half asleep, who answers like they are actually here.
  3. When the traffic or the inbox or the noise has you on autopilot, come back on purpose. Feel your hands, look at one real thing, and keep going as someone who is present.

What have I been treating as the whole of life that is only part of it?

From the start, all beings are awake. We are like someone crying of thirst while standing in the middle of the water.

Hinduism · Upanishads

The self you are looking for is the one doing the looking. Wake to it and the whole world turns out to be made of it.

Sufism · Rumi

You have been asleep for years, dreaming the dream was the world. The one who stirs first shows the sleepers beside him that waking is possible.
