1 Corinthians 15:51 Meaning Behold

Behold, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,

What does 1 Corinthians 15:51 mean?

The mystery is that transformation does not wait on the grave. Sleep here is not the death of the body but the long forgetting in which God lies dormant in man, and the change is the waking, when the imperishable imagination that you are rises up as itself.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The mystery is that transformation does not wait on the grave. Sleep here is not the death of the body but the long forgetting in which God lies dormant in man, and the change is the waking, when the imperishable imagination that you are rises up as itself. Not all sleep on to the end, because some die the daily death, letting the old self go and putting on the state they wish to be.

You are not the body that fails. You are the immortal imagination in which God went to sleep as Adam and wakes as Jesus, and these two are one being at different hours of the same story. The change is felt from within, an inward movement into the fulfilled scene that produces its match without. A man is changed the moment he stops identifying with what the senses show and takes up the feeling of the thing he longs to be.

Live 1 Corinthians 15:51 today

  1. On the commute or in a grocery line, pick one habit of thought you are tired of carrying and set it down for the length of the wait. You do not need a plan to stop being that person for ten minutes.
  2. With someone close, drop the old script you both know by heart. Answer once as the calmer person you would like to be with them, and see how quickly the room follows.
  3. When your phone lights up with the message you have been dreading, feel the version of this that ends well before you open it. The change is inward first, every time.

What would be different in the next hour if you stopped waiting for permission to be someone new?

The same truth in other traditions

Buddhism · Dhammapada

The word awake is the whole claim. Nothing changes in the furniture of the world, only in whether the one looking at it is asleep.

Zen

Teachers spoke of dying while alive, letting the self you have been fall away now rather than at the end. What comes after that letting go is the only life worth calling yours.

Sufism

The old instruction was to die before you die. The small, defended self can be set down today, and what remains was never the part that could be lost.
