1 Corinthians 6:11 Meaning Some of You Were Such
Some of you were such, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:11 · World English Bible
Some of you were such, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.
Once you were that, and now you are not. The change is honest.
From the Ego v. Being reading below.
The same verse, read by 3 traditions.

EGO & BEING
Once you were that, and now you are not. The change is honest. No one scrubbed themselves into it by effort. Washing that lasts is not the mind polishing its own image but a waking, the moment the old identity built from wounds and labels is seen through and released.
What cleans a person is awareness itself, the light of consciousness falling on the accumulated self until its claim dissolves. Made whole, set right, given a new name from the depth, the one who wakes finds the stains were never the core. Underneath the whole soiled history, something in a person stayed untouched, waiting to be lived from.

SUFISM
Some carry the memory of who they used to be like a stain they keep touching, until that private shame hardens into a fresh pride, the belief that the old self is still the real one. Clinging to the former face is the illness; the cure is to accept the washing already done and stop rehearsing the dirt, letting gratitude replace self-reproach.
A mirror wiped clean does not remember its rust. The One who washed, set apart, and made right did the work by His own name, not by the effort of the stained. What remains is the bright surface, made to show His face, not the old grime.

SELF-HELP
Nothing in a person's life moves until the sentence they use to introduce themselves changes tense.
A label is a pile of references with a noun stapled to it, and the noun runs the state, the state runs what a person is willing to attempt this afternoon, and the afternoon restocks the pile. Trying harder inside that loop never breaks it.
Because the washing and the verdict both come in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit, the new certainty does not wait on a streak of clean days; it is handed over ahead of the evidence, and the evidence follows because the state changed first. Anyone who keeps quoting the old list against themselves will go on living at the level it describes, long after it has stopped being true of them.
Ego v. Being lens
What have you been treating as your core that is only something that happened to you?
The mirror was never dirty. Wipe away the dust and what appears was there the whole time.
Beneath every name you have been given, the real self is untouched. That you are, already, before any change.
Muddy water is not scrubbed clear. Left still, it settles by itself and the clearness returns.
