1 Corinthians 7:1 Meaning Now Concerning the Things About Which You

Now concerning the things about which you wrote to me: it is good for a man not to touch a woman.

What does 1 Corinthians 7:1 mean?

Man and woman here are the 2 poles within one being: the mind or spirit as the male principle, and the emotional, sense-bound generative nature as the female. For a man not to touch a woman is the counsel that the higher faculty hold itself apart from constant entanglement with the lower desiring nature, so its force is not drained downward into appetite.

This is the conserving of energy rather than a rule about bodies. When the spiritual principle keeps from perpetually merging with the emotional pull, its power stays gathered and can rise. Strength held back from the lower nature becomes strength available higher up.

Live 1 Corinthians 7:1 today

  1. Pick one appetite you usually obey without thinking, a scroll, a snack, a tab you open on reflex, and do not follow it once today. Feel where that saved energy goes.
  2. In conversation, hold back one reaction you would normally let fly, a complaint, a flirtation, a jab, and stay present instead. Restraint makes you more there, not less.
  3. When pressure spikes at work and you want to vent or numb out, wait fifteen minutes before doing either. Often the force you were about to spend is exactly what you needed to think clearly.

Where is my energy running out through doors I never meant to leave open?

Bhagavad Gita 6

The one who holds the senses steady gathers strength, while the one who follows every pull scatters it. The mind is either your friend or the thing that drains you.

Tao Te Ching 52

Close the openings and the energy stays with you; leave them all open and life runs out through them. Keeping something back is not loss.
