Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be; but we know that when he is revealed, we will be like him; for we will see him just as he is.

Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be; but we know that when he is revealed, we will be like him; for we will see him just as he is.
You are already the offspring of the creative power, whether or not your outer life shows it yet. The likeness is present now, folded up and unexpressed, the way a full tree waits inside a seed that looks like nothing much.

MANIFESTATION
You are already the offspring of the creative power, whether or not your outer life shows it yet. The likeness is present now, folded up and unexpressed, the way a full tree waits inside a seed that looks like nothing much. What you will become has not yet surfaced. The capacity is settled.
The promise is that when this power finally reveals itself, it wears the face of the one who sought it. Seeing it as it is means recognizing that the source a person imagined above himself was his own imagination the whole while. No gap ever stood between the child and the parent. A person grows into the likeness by discovering it was already his, and the unfolding is simply that recognition arriving in full.

ESOTERIC
Sonship is present now: the divine seed already lives in a person, though its full unfolding stays hidden while the lower nature still veils it. What one shall be has not yet appeared because the higher self is still forming behind the flesh.
When that inner Christ rises into full awareness, the self becomes like it, for seeing it as it is means the mind at last perceives its own true nature without distortion. To behold the divine directly is to be changed into its likeness.

CYBERNETICS
A person becomes what they hold before the mind's eye. What someone will grow into has not shown itself yet, and the not-yet is no argument against it, because the self-image works ahead of the evidence. The picture comes first, then the man catches up to the picture.
Seeing clearly is the whole mechanism at work. When a person keeps a steady image of who they were made to be, they slowly take on its shape, feature by feature, until the likeness is theirs. Held sight becomes lived form.

SUFISM
Fiṭra: The nature you were born with The Prophet said every child is born already carrying it. So the belonging in question is already in hand: it sits in a person now, under everything piled on top of it over the years. Someone unsure of where they stand looks for proof out ahead, in a better version of themselves. Being told it is already theirs puts ground under their feet today.
Ghayb: The unseen Ghayb covers everything held back from us, and the Quran opens by praising people who trust it anyway. Not knowing how you will turn out is uncomfortable, and most people fill that gap with guesses, flattering or grim. This teaching lets the gap stay a gap. A person can hold a promise firmly and still have no picture of what it will look like.
Tajallī: God showing himself Ibn Arabi built much of his work on this showing, which never comes twice in the same form. The clearing up hoped for arrives from God's side, on his timing. That lifts a weight off whoever is waiting, since the pressure to work out their own ending drops away. Waiting turns into staying ready for something that comes on its own.
You will see your Lord as you see the full moon: sight with nothing in the way The Prophet used that comparison for the meeting people are promised. Faith runs now on report, on piecing things together from what you have been told and lived through. The promise is that the piecing together stops. Knowing God then works the way you know a face standing in front of you.
Mir'āt al-qalb: The heart as a mirror Al-Ghazali described the heart as a mirror that shows whatever it faces, once the rust is off. The mirror explains why seeing and becoming are tied together rather than being two separate gifts. A person is shaped by what they keep their eyes on, slowly and without deciding to be. Full sight of God works on the one looking, the way long company with someone leaves its mark on you.
Takhalluq: Taking on God's qualities The Sufis repeat that a person should take on God's qualities, and al-Ghazali makes this the point of the path. Becoming like God can sound enormous, even arrogant, until you hear what is meant: mercy, patience, generosity and forgiveness showing up in an ordinary person. Nobody turns into God; someone carries those qualities so fully that nothing petty is left. The hope held out is for that likeness finished.
Manifestation lens
What have you been waiting to be given that you already carry?
The great tree is already inside the tiny seed, complete and invisible. Nothing new gets delivered; the hidden thing simply comes out.
The old saying is that everyone already has this nature and the whole practice is uncovering it. You are not building a better self. You are clearing what has been covering one.
He wrote that what you are looking for is looking for you. The gap between seeker and sought was a misunderstanding about where to stand.
