1 John 5:6 Meaning This Is He Who Came by Water

This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

What does 1 John 5:6 mean?

Water and blood are the two signs present at every birth, and here they mark the birth of a new self rather than a body. Jesus Christ is your own human imagination, the one power that creates, and it is never born into your life by wishing alone.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

Water and blood are the two signs present at every birth, and here they mark the birth of a new self rather than a body. Jesus Christ is your own human imagination, the one power that creates, and it is never born into your life by wishing alone. Water is the desire and the clear inner picture; blood is the feeling, the warm conviction that the thing is already so. Imagination that comes by water only, a picture held without feeling, stays unborn.

A state assumed and felt to be so does not announce itself by argument; it produces evidence. That is the Spirit bearing witness, and the witness cannot lie, because what you have inwardly become always shows itself outwardly. The self you accept and feel to be yours is the self your world will confirm.

Live 1 John 5:6 today

  1. When you picture the thing you want tonight, stay with it until your body actually relaxes into it, until it feels ordinary rather than exciting. If it still feels like wanting, you are holding water without blood.
  2. Tell someone the good news you are hoping for as though it already happened, in a normal voice over dinner or in a text. Watch what your chest does when you say it warmly instead of carefully.
  3. When the day argues against you, a cold email, a bad number, a long traffic jam, do not defend your inner picture out loud. Let the quiet certainty sit there unargued and let the week bring its own witness.

Which of my wishes am I still only looking at, instead of feeling as mine?

Bhagavad Gita

Krishna says the one who acts without inner conviction gains nothing, while the one whose mind and heart move together is already united with what he seeks. The act matters less than the state it rises out of.

Zen

A student who understands the words but has not felt the truth in his bones is told he is still holding a painted cake and cannot eat it. Knowing about a thing and being it are two different births.

The Masnavi opens with a reed flute whose song comes only from having been cut and hollowed out. The sound is not in the shape of the reed but in the burning it carries.
