1 John 5:8 · World English Bible
the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and the three agree as one.
These three testify down here, in the world people live in, and the case being settled is who Jesus is. Water and blood are the baptism where His public work opened and the death where it closed.
From the Protestant reading below.
The same verse, read by one tradition.

PROTESTANT
These three testify down here, in the world people live in, and the case being settled is who Jesus is. Water and blood are the baptism where His public work opened and the death where it closed.
Teachers of that day claimed the divine Son came upon Jesus at the one and left before the other, so naming both refuses that split. The Spirit joins them, carrying God's own testimony about His Son rather than human opinion. All three converge on one statement, so confidence rests on what God has said, not on how convinced a person feels today.
Protestant lens
How much of what I believe about myself today rests on evidence, and how much on how I happen to feel?
Feelings arrive and leave on their own schedule, so build on what you have actually judged to be true. The storm on the surface does not change the depth of the water.
Test a teaching the way a goldsmith tests metal, by several independent checks, not by how inspired you felt when you first heard it. Converging evidence is worth more than a strong impression.
A matter is established only on the testimony of more than one witness, never on a single voice however confident, and the witnesses are examined apart. Agreement between separate witnesses is what makes a case stand.
