Burning the equipment of the old life is what turns an intention into a decision the body obeys.

A call that leaves a man's plough in working order gets renegotiated on every hard morning. While the oxen still pull, the mind runs a return plan in the background, and that second plan splits the state; a split state leaks into hedging, hedging produces half effort, and half effort never compounds into a prophet.

Feeding the village with that fire makes the commitment witnessed, and witnessed commitments are harder to quietly reverse. Following Elijah afterward is the proof of a choice the fire had already closed. The cost is losing the reassurance that the old field still waits, and that reassurance was funding years of delay.

  1. Cancel the backup plan you have been quietly keeping alive. Unsubscribe, delete the saved listing, close the tab you keep reopening at midnight.
  2. Tell one person out loud what you have decided, and ask them to ask you about it next month. Said aloud, it becomes harder to walk back on a bad morning.
  3. When the hard day comes and the old option starts to look reasonable, name it for what it is: the escape plan talking. Give it ten minutes, then get back to the work.

What are you still keeping in working order, just in case you want to go back?

Decide what you intend to be, then act as a person who has already settled it; what you are still debating each morning you have not actually chosen.
