1 Peter 2:4 · World English Bible
coming to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.
The living stone is a person's own imagination, the very power men set aside as worthless while it is in fact the one God chooses. To come to it is to turn toward the awareness of being within, the I AM that was rejected because it seemed too plain and too near to be divine.
From the Manifestation reading below.

MANIFESTATION
The living stone is a person's own imagination, the very power men set aside as worthless while it is in fact the one God chooses. To come to it is to turn toward the awareness of being within, the I AM that was rejected because it seemed too plain and too near to be divine. What the world throws away as merely mental is the rock that begets and the God that gives birth, now grown personal and close.
The stone is called living because it is not dead matter but the creative source itself, waiting to be recognized. Men disallow the precious thing. A person spends years treating his own imagining as nothing. When he comes to it as the chosen foundation, he arrives at the God he had been overlooking in himself.
