1 Samuel 13:14 Meaning But Now Your Kingdom Will Not Continue

But now your kingdom will not continue. Yahweh has sought for himself a man after his own heart, and Yahweh has appointed him to be prince over his people, because you have not kept that which Yahweh commanded you.

What does 1 Samuel 13:14 mean?

Saul is the doubting mind, the ruler who cannot hold to what he was told and so cannot keep the throne. The kingdom leaves him because a hesitant mind builds nothing that lasts.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

Saul is the doubting mind, the ruler who cannot hold to what he was told and so cannot keep the throne. The kingdom leaves him because a hesitant mind builds nothing that lasts. What replaces him is no sturdier version of the same ruler. His successor is David, and David is the whole human race gathered into one perfected being, the eternal Son of the I AM.

Here stands the man after God's own heart. All human experience finally resolves into him, and in the end he rises within a person and calls that person Father. The doubting mind steps aside for the Son who contains everyone. What governs at last is the one being every life was always becoming, awake within and naming you as his source. Effort never wins that throne. The Son does.

  1. Pick one thing you have been going back and forth on all week, and settle it in your own mind before you touch your phone. Not a plan, just a decision you stop reopening every hour.
  2. When someone asks what you think, give them your actual answer instead of three answers with hedges around them. Half of being trusted is simply not wobbling in the middle of a sentence.
  3. In a meeting where the pressure is on and everyone is reading the room, hold the position you already know is right, calmly, without raising your voice or gathering allies first.

Where am I still trying to win by effort something that would come easily if I simply stopped doubting it?

The same truth in other traditions

Tao Te Ching 29

The one who grabs and strains at the world loses it. What lasts is held without clenching, because forcing a thing into shape is already the beginning of its collapse.

Bhagavad Gita 2

The wavering mind, pulled two ways at once, accomplishes nothing and knows no peace. Steadiness of inner conviction is what carries a person through, not the size of the effort.

Zen

Stop trying to polish the mirror from outside. What you are looking for is the one doing the looking, and it was never gained by striving.
