1 Samuel 17:56 Meaning The King Said

The king said, “Inquire whose son the young man is!”

What does 1 Samuel 17:56 mean?

The king cannot place the young victor, and that failure is the whole meaning. This stripling is David, the Christ hidden inside every person, and he does not draw his power from the man watching him.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The king cannot place the young victor, and that failure is the whole meaning. This stripling is David, the Christ hidden inside every person, and he does not draw his power from the man watching him. He works the other way. The son stands before you and, by standing there, shows you who you are. When you finally recognize him as your own, you learn that you are the Father he came from, the very I AM that is your own awareness.

Saul is the part of us that stares at its own child and asks whose he is, never guessing the answer is himself. David is God's youth planted in the mind, waiting to be seen. You will not know your own face until it looks back at you from his. The son reveals the Father, and the Father was always you.

Live 1 Samuel 17:56 today

  1. Spend ten minutes today without input, no music, no podcast, no scrolling. Just you with you, long enough to recognize who is actually in there.
  2. Pay real attention to how one person responds to you today, a child, a partner, a coworker. What comes back at you is telling you something about what you are putting out.
  3. The next time you are irritated with someone and it feels completely justified, pause and ask what in you that irritation is pointing at. Then go back and be ordinary and kind with them anyway.

What have the people around me been showing me about myself that I have not wanted to look at?

The same truth in other traditions

Zen

You cannot see your own face without a mirror. The teacher, the child, the moment in front of you: these are the mirror, and the face in them is yours.

Upanishads

Two birds sit on the same branch. One eats the fruit and lives inside the events, the other watches, and the day you recognize the watcher you know who you have always been.

Tao Te Ching 47

You do not find yourself by going further out. Turn inward and what you were trying to reach is already standing there.
