1 Samuel 17:58 Meaning Saul Said to Him

Saul said to him, “Whose son are you, you young man?” David answered, “I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.”

What does 1 Samuel 17:58 mean?

Jesse is I AM, the father in a man, and David is the son that I AM forever brings forth. When the young man names Jesse before the king, the whole scene turns on which one is the father.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

Jesse is I AM, the father in a man, and David is the son that I AM forever brings forth. When the young man names Jesse before the king, the whole scene turns on which one is the father. David does not become the father. He points to him. Saul is the part of a man gone senseless, unable to know its own child standing right in front of it.

So the boy declaring whose son he is becomes the sign that the one who hears is himself the Father named. To meet your own son and know him is to find that the I AM he came from is your very self. The child reveals the parent. A man learns he is God the Father the moment he sees his own face in the face of his son.

Live 1 Samuel 17:58 today

  1. Say the words I am, by themselves, a few times today, and feel what is there before you add any description. That bare sense of being is older than anything you call yourself.
  2. Listen to one person today without filing their words under what it means about you. Just let them be fully themselves in front of you for a few minutes.
  3. When something good lands today, a small win, a kind word, a thing that went right, pause for one breath and let yourself feel that it came from where you have been standing all along.

If the source of my life has been my own awareness this whole time, what would I stop waiting for?

That which is deepest in you is also that which holds everything. You are that, not as a reward for seeking it, but as the plain fact you had overlooked.

Zen

From the start, nothing was missing. Awakening is not an arrival, it is the recognition of what has been standing there the whole time.
