1 Thessalonians 5:13 Meaning And to Respect and Honor Them

and to respect and honor them in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.

What does 1 Thessalonians 5:13 mean?

To be at peace among yourselves, you must first see where conflict comes from. It arises when the ego in one person collides with the ego in another, each defending its position, each needing to be right.

Ego v. Being

To be at peace among yourselves, you must first see where conflict comes from. It arises when the ego in one person collides with the ego in another, each defending its position, each needing to be right. As long as you see others only through this lens of judgment, peace stays out of reach.

But when you meet people from presence and hold them highly in love, something shifts. You begin to sense the same aliveness looking back at you through their eyes. Peace does not require that you agree on everything. It comes the moment you stop defending yourself against them and feel the one life you share.

Live 1 Thessalonians 5:13 today

  1. Pick one person who annoys you and spend thirty seconds thinking about something hard they are carrying. You do not have to like them more, just see them more.
  2. In your next disagreement, drop the goal of being right and ask one honest question instead. Peace usually starts as curiosity.
  3. In a group chat that is heating up, say the one thing that cools it, that is fair, or I see what you mean. You lose nothing by not winning.

Who are you still defending yourself against, and what is that costing you?
