Pray without ceasing.

SUFISM
Dhikr: Remembrance Assuming prayer means set words at set times makes praying always sound impossible. Remembrance is smaller and steadier, a name held quietly underneath whatever else a person is doing. Someone washing dishes or walking to work can carry it, and the day stops being split into prayer time and everything else.
Ḥuḍūr al-qalb: The heart being present Al-Ghazali kept pressing the point that words said while the mind is elsewhere are only noise from the mouth. Trying to pray nonstop can slide into counting, where phrases pile up while a person thinks about tomorrow. The measure is whether the one saying the words is present for them, even for a few seconds.
Worship God as though you see him, and if you do not see him, he sees you: awareness is the whole thing The saying comes from the Prophet, and it shifts what unbroken prayer means. Instead of endless talking, prayer becomes living under a steady gaze that never switches off. Someone who keeps that in view is praying while silent, because they have not stepped away from the one who sees them.
Your calling out is already my answer: Rumi on prayer that gets no reply Rumi tells of a man who quit calling because heaven stayed quiet, and he learns his calling was the reply. The hardest stretch of praying on and on comes when nothing answers and it feels one-sided. Hearing that the longing itself was put there makes the quiet easier to sit in, and the calling continues.
When I love him, I become the hearing with which he hears: prayer soaking into daily life These are words the Prophet passed on from God about the servant who keeps drawing near through small, steady acts. The picture is of prayer working through a person until ordinary hearing, seeing, and working carry it. Praying always then looks less like extra work added on and more like the manner in which everything else gets done.

What were you actually thinking about during the last quiet minute you had?
Krishna tells Arjuna to keep him in mind at all times while still fighting the battle in front of him. The holding in mind is the practice, not a separate hour set aside for it.
Dogen taught that cooking rice and sweeping the floor are the practice itself, done with full attention, not chores waiting for practice to begin. Where the mind actually is decides whether anything real is happening.
Epictetus said we should keep God in mind the way we keep in mind that we are being watched by someone we respect, which steadies a person in ordinary moments. The awareness, not the speech, is what carries through the day.
