1 Thessalonians 5:2 · World English Bible
For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.
The day of the Lord is the awakening, the hour the awareness within rises and knows itself as God, and it comes like a thief, without warning and without your arranging it. No calendar holds it and no preparation earns it.
From the Manifestation reading below.
The same verse, read by one tradition.

MANIFESTATION
The day of the Lord is the awakening, the hour the awareness within rises and knows itself as God, and it comes like a thief, without warning and without your arranging it. No calendar holds it and no preparation earns it. It arrives suddenly, from inside, when the appointed span is finished, and it takes the old self quietly while the rest of life goes on unaware.
Calling it a thief in the night means it comes while a person is still asleep to what he is, still living from the senses as though the outer world made him. There is no witness to it but the one it happens to. The awakening does not announce itself and cannot be forced by effort. It rises on its own hour within a person and lets him find, all at once, that he is the one he was waiting for.
Manifestation lens
What in me has been waiting for the right conditions, when it was never going to ask my permission?
The moment of seeing cannot be scheduled. Years of sitting prepare the ground, but the actual opening arrives on its own hour, often in the middle of something plain, like hearing a stone strike bamboo.
The great way works without announcement. What is truly at work in you moves quietly and finishes its business before anyone thinks to look.
The self you have been searching for is the one doing the searching. Nothing new arrives; what happens is that the seeker suddenly recognizes itself.
