A leader's real work before a battle is handing people a certainty they can act from.
Being established follows believing, in that order, and the order is the mechanism. Conviction about Yahweh sets the state of an army, the state decides whether men walk toward Tekoa as the doomed or the defended, and how they walk decides what they can do when the coalition comes into view.
Those same men, certain instead about the armies massing against them, arrive already beaten, and an enemy gets credited with a victory their own imaginations produced. Belief in the prophets aims at a result nobody has seen, which is precisely what dread does with the same faculty. A leader who supplies information alone leaves their people to aim it wherever the worst news points, and commands an army that is well briefed and finished.
