2 Chronicles 25:9 Meaning Amaziah Said to the Man of God

Amaziah said to the man of God, “But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel?” The man of God answered, “Yahweh is able to give you much more than this.”

What does 2 Chronicles 25:9 mean?

Nothing moves while the price is still being negotiated; accept the price and the how shows up. The final argument a wavering standard makes is about what has already been spent, because money out the door feels more real than an outcome not yet in hand.

Nothing moves while the price is still being negotiated; accept the price and the how shows up.

The final argument a wavering standard makes is about what has already been spent, because money out the door feels more real than an outcome not yet in hand. Answering with Yahweh's ability to give far more than that does not fix the arithmetic; it lifts the decision out of arithmetic entirely. As long as obedience is weighed against a hundred talents it stays a should, and a should reopens every time the price comes up.

Settle the standard first and provision becomes Yahweh's arithmetic rather than the king's. Waiting for the numbers to justify a standard costs a person the standard, because the numbers will always argue for the cheaper version.

  1. Cancel the subscription, the course, or the plan you stopped believing in, even though you already paid for the year. The money is gone either way, and only one choice gets your next month back.
  2. Tell one person you are out of something you had already committed to, without listing everything it cost you to get in. A clean sentence is kinder than a defended one.
  3. When a project at work turns out to be the wrong road, say so in the meeting instead of protecting the three months already in it. Lead with what is true now, not with the receipts.

What are you still doing mainly because of what you already put into it?

What is already spent is gone, and dragging it into tomorrow's decision only makes you pay for it twice.

Bhagavad Gita 2

Act because the act is right, not because you have finished calculating the return. The calculating is what keeps you stuck on the field.

Tao Te Ching 44

The more a person prizes what they have stored up, the more it costs them. Knowing when enough is enough is what keeps them whole.
