Anger flaring at the seat of consciousness corrupts the very center it rises in. The forehead is the center of consciousness in a person, and the leprosy breaking out across it is the life force being eaten away by a mind turned wrathful. What should have stayed clear at the front of the head goes white and dead the instant rage takes it.
The corruption appears at the altar, in the house, which is the man himself standing in his own inner sanctuary. Wrath handled where devotion should be lifted does not merely spoil an act; it spreads back into the ruling center and wastes it. The higher work of the head cannot be seized in anger without the anger consuming the one who reaches for it.
