The deepest reality does not live in the bright, busy light of the thinking mind. It dwells in what the mind meets as thick darkness: the formless, the unknowable, the stillness where no thought can reach.

EGO & BEING
The deepest reality does not live in the bright, busy light of the thinking mind. It dwells in what the mind meets as thick darkness: the formless, the unknowable, the stillness where no thought can reach. Whenever you try to capture the divine in a concept or an image, it slips away, because it is not a thing the mind can hold.
This darkness is not to be feared. It is the silent ground of Being beneath all your knowing. When the restless light of thought grows quiet and you stop needing to understand, you become aware of a presence that was there all along, hidden only because your thinking was too loud to let you notice it.

SUFISM
Having raised a house heavy with gold, the king turns and says the One it honors lives in a cloud. That check falls straight on the pride of the maker. A person who builds something magnificent can slowly bow to the achievement, mistaking the shell for the One inside it.
But the thick darkness is not absence. What no eye can fix upon is the very fullness pressing on the room, the way a deep well is dark because it is full to the brim.
Ego v. Being lens
What happens in me when I stop needing to understand?
It cannot be seen, it cannot be grasped, and meeting it feels like meeting a vagueness. Go toward it and there is no front, follow it and there is no back, yet everything comes from there.
A student asks for the truth and the teacher stays silent. The silence is not a refusal. It is the only honest answer to a question the mind asked wrong.
Before anything could be named there was the hidden, limitless ground that no thought reaches. Every name we have is a lamp held up to something that was never dark to begin with.
