2 Corinthians 10:1 · World English Bible
Now I Paul, myself, entreat you by the humility and gentleness of Christ, I who in your presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you.
There is a gentleness that has nothing to do with weakness. It is the natural quality of one who no longer needs to defend or assert a self.

EGO & BEING
There is a gentleness that has nothing to do with weakness. It is the natural quality of one who no longer needs to defend or assert a self. When you meet the world without the armor of ego, you may appear lowly to those who worship force.
Meekness of this kind is not the lack of strength but the presence of something deeper than the urge to dominate. The ego grows loud when it feels threatened and bold from a safe distance. The one who is truly present has laid that struggle down. Gentleness is simply what remains when no frightened self is left insisting on its own importance.

BUDDHISM
Peyyavajja: Kindly speech Peyyavajja is speech that binds people closer instead of driving them off. An apostle writing to a church that has been picking his authority apart could open with orders; entreat is an open hand where a pointed finger would serve. The Corinthians can refuse an appeal, and that risk is the point, since an argument won by rank leaves the loser unchanged.
Nivāta: Humility Nivāta names the mind with no wind in it, nothing puffed up. Christ's humility is what Paul stakes his appeal on, borrowing a weight he declines to claim for himself. Being lowly among them is thrown at him as a defect, a preacher who shrinks once he is in the room, and carried this way it is the same lowness he asks them to honor in his master.
Soracca: Gentleness Soracca is mildness that holds steady under provocation. Gentleness of Christ is the ground he stands on while writing to people who found him unimpressive in person and preferred preachers who arrived louder. Mildness of that kind looks like weakness until you try holding it under insult. A gentle hand on the reins still steers the horse.
Māna: Conceit Māna is the habit of sizing yourself up against whoever stands in front of you: better, equal, worse. Lowly and bold are both marks on that ruler, and the Corinthians have already taken his measure, weighty on paper and small in the flesh. Ranking a teacher is how you avoid hearing him, since a man once filed under weak can be dismissed without answering a word he wrote.
Vesārajja: Fearless confidence Vesārajja is the assurance of someone with nothing to hide. Boldness sent across the sea reads like courage borrowed from the distance, and he knows how that looks to them. The claim holds only if the letter and the man who walks through the door say the same thing. Honest books balance whoever opens them.
Ego v. Being lens
What would I stop fighting for today if I had nothing to prove about myself?
Water is the softest thing there is, and it wears down stone. What yields outlasts what insists.
Conquer anger with non-anger and the hard with the gentle. Meeting force with force only keeps the quarrel alive.
No one can insult you without your agreement. Where there is no self anxiously guarding its standing, there is nothing left for the insult to land on.
