2 Corinthians 11:13 Meaning For Such Men Are False Apostles

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as Christ’s apostles.

What does 2 Corinthians 11:13 mean?

Inside a person the lower thoughts learn to disguise themselves as messengers of the higher self, wearing the appearance of truth while carrying none of it. False apostles are the counterfeit inner voices, the impulses of the ego that dress in the language of the anointed self and pass themselves off as guidance from above.

Their whole craft is transformation of surface: they change their look, not their nature, so that deceitful desire arrives sounding like revelation.

The danger is not open error but convincing imitation. A thought that speaks in the accents of the Christ within can still come from the lowest part of the man, and the work of discernment is telling the true inner messenger from the one only wearing its face.

  1. When a decision arrives already wearing noble reasons, ask what the plainest selfish version of that choice would be. If they are the same choice, the noble reasons were decoration.
  2. Before you send advice to someone, check whether you want them helped or you want to be the one who helped. Same words, different thing entirely.
  3. Under pressure, when you hear yourself saying "I am only being honest" or "someone has to say it," pause. That phrasing is usually something harsher borrowing a better coat.
