EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

When the false self dies in one person, the effect does not stay contained. Death worketh in us, but life in you. As the ego dissolves in someone, what remains is pure presence, and presence is never private. It radiates.

You have felt this near a person who has stopped defending and grasping. Something in you relaxes and comes alive simply by being close to them. This is the quiet transmission at the heart of all real teaching. The dying of the ego in one becomes life in another, because once the false self falls away, what remains is a living presence that others can feel and come alive beside.

  1. Before you walk into the house tonight, sit in the car or stand at the door for thirty seconds and let the day's tension drop out of your shoulders. What you carry in is what everyone inside will breathe.
  2. Listen to one person today without planning your reply while they talk. People can feel the difference, and they open up in a way they cannot with someone who is waiting to speak.
  3. When a group chat gets heated, be the one who does not add fuel. Your calm message, or your silence, shifts the whole thread more than any clever point would.

Who feels lighter after being near me, and who feels heavier?
