The mind is forever postponing its rescue to some later hour, when conditions improve, when the past is settled, when it has finally become worthy. So salvation is imagined as an appointment in the future, and the future never comes, because it is only a thought.

EGO & BEING
The mind is forever postponing its rescue to some later hour, when conditions improve, when the past is settled, when it has finally become worthy. So salvation is imagined as an appointment in the future, and the future never comes, because it is only a thought. Yet the deliverance that is longed for was never located in time at all.
Behold, now is the accepted time. There is no other doorway. Presence can only be entered here, in this breath, in this moment that is always available beneath the noise of thinking. When you stop waiting for the right day and give your full attention to what is, you find that the help you were praying for is already here, because being fully present is itself the salvation.

SUFISM
I am near, and I answer the call of the one who calls me: the asking is already heard A line from the Quran that Sufis return to whenever prayer feels like talking to a wall. The worry underneath most asking is whether anyone is on the other end, and that worry makes people ask small, or stop asking. When someone learns the answer was ready before the words left them, they stop bracing and start speaking plainly.
Tajdīd al-khalq: creation made new at every instant Ibn Arabi's teaching that the world is remade moment by moment. A person waiting for better conditions treats life as one long stretch where anything can happen later, so nothing has to happen now. The instant in front of someone is the only place where God is currently working, which is why it carries the whole weight.
Ibn al-waqt: the child of the moment The old name for someone who lives in the time they are in. Most of us spend the day half inside yesterday's regret and half inside tomorrow's plan, which leaves very little of us here. Coming back to the present hour is quiet work, and it puts a person where offered help can reach them.
Putting off the work until you have free time is a sign of the self's foolishness: delay dresses up as planning Ibn Ata Allah wrote this about the excuse everyone uses. Delay rarely feels like refusal. It feels sensible, since a calmer month is coming and the matter will get proper attention then. That calmer month keeps sliding forward, and waiting slowly becomes the shape of a life.
Tawba: turning back Al-Ghazali holds that this turn is owed immediately. Someone who knows they have drifted usually wants to clean themselves up first and come back in better condition, which quietly adds years to the drift. The turn itself takes a second, since attention simply swings off what a person was chasing and back toward God, and the repair follows after.
Ego v. Being lens
What have I been saving my real life for?
Do not wait for a better season to practice. This moment, exactly as it is, is the only place practice can happen.
While we postpone, life runs past us. The whole of living is happening now, and we keep treating it as a rehearsal for something later.
The past is gone and the future has not arrived. Whoever lives fully in the present moment is already free, with nothing left to wait for.
