2 Corinthians 7:4 Meaning Great Is My Boldness of Speech Toward

Great is my boldness of speech toward you. Great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort. I overflow with joy in all our affliction.

What does 2 Corinthians 7:4 mean?

The joy that can fill a person even in the midst of tribulation is not joy because circumstances are pleasant. That it survives hardship at all reveals its source.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

The joy that can fill a person even in the midst of tribulation is not joy because circumstances are pleasant. That it survives hardship at all reveals its source. Ordinary happiness depends on conditions, rising when they please us and collapsing when they turn.

This deeper joy does not come to you from the world. It rises from within, from the aliveness of presence that is untouched by what is happening around you. When your sense of who you are rests in that inner depth rather than in your circumstances, you can meet great difficulty and still be joyful, because the joy never depended on the difficulty going away.

AWARENESS

Indian Guru

Boldness of this kind belongs to a man with nothing left to protect. Diplomacy is the ego managing an image, and when the image has gone, speech comes out straight and can afford to be affectionate without calculation.

Joy in the middle of affliction, not after it has passed, is the whole matter. The mind postpones happiness until conditions improve, and so it stays permanently postponed. Where that dependence has broken, the difficulty runs its course and the delight runs alongside it, neither one cancelling the other. What overflows was never manufactured, which is why hardship cannot drain it.

Live 2 Corinthians 7:4 today

  1. On a hard day, find one small thing that is simply good, warm coffee, cold air, a song, and let yourself feel it fully without arguing that today does not deserve it.
  2. When someone asks how you are and things are genuinely rough, tell the truth and stay warm with them anyway. Those two can live in the same sentence.
  3. In the middle of a tense afternoon, step outside for one minute and feel your own aliveness, the breath, the ground. That part of you was not canceled by the deadline.

Where does my sense of being okay actually live, in my circumstances or in something underneath them?

Some things are in our hands and some are not. Peace stops being fragile the moment it rests on what is yours rather than on how the day turns out.

Bhagavad Gita

The steady one meets gain and loss, praise and blame, with the same inward calm. Joy of this kind does not rise and fall with the weather of events.
