Al-Razzāq: The Provider God carries this name as the one who feeds every creature. Having more at the moment proves nothing about deserving more, and the same supply reaches the person with less through some other door. Someone who reads a surplus as passing through their hands finds it easier to pass part of it on.

Zakāt: The purifying share The word means cleaning, and the amount is fixed rather than left to mood. Part of what sits in your account was assigned to someone else before you ever counted it, so handing it over settles a debt instead of granting a favor. Giving from that angle leaves no room for looking down on whoever receives.

Īthār: Preferring others to yourself The Quran praises people who gave away what they needed themselves. Most giving stops at the comfortable line, the amount nobody will miss, and this pushes past it. Someone in that state looks at what another household is short of and treats it as more pressing than their own plans.

None of you believes until you love for your brother what you love for yourself: the measure of fairness A saying of the Prophet, and the test in it is simple. Whatever you would want coming to you if you were the one short, that is the size of the gift. Once someone makes that swap in their mind, the right amount usually becomes clear on its own.

Tawakkul: Trust in God's care Giving away extra only frightens people who assume the current supply is the last one. Trust here means expecting to be met when the shortage lands on your side, through neighbors or through some turn nobody can see yet. A person who expects that can give away the extra now and stop guarding it against a bad year.

  1. Look at one thing you currently have extra of, money, time, a spare room, a car, and give some of it away this week without framing it as a favor. It was passing through.
  2. Next time a friend is tight and you are not, pay for the meal without making it a moment. Then let them pay later when the sides have flipped, and do not keep a ledger either way.
  3. When you are the one who needs help, ask for it plainly instead of white knuckling it alone. Receiving well is half of how this works.

Would I want the help I am withholding, if I were the one short?
