2 Kings 2:21 Meaning He Went Out to the Spring

He went out to the spring of the waters, and threw salt into it, and said, “Yahweh says, ‘I have healed these waters. There shall not be from there any more death or barren wasteland.’ ”

What does 2 Kings 2:21 mean?

Most people spend their lives filtering the stream when a handful of change at the spring would do it. Where a correction is applied matters more than how hard it is applied.

Most people spend their lives filtering the stream when a handful of change at the spring would do it.

Where a correction is applied matters more than how hard it is applied. Barren ground downstream is a source problem, and every season spent working the fields is a season the same water keeps arriving.

In a person, the source is belief. Belief sets the state a man meets his morning in, the state sets which emotions are available, the emotions choose the actions, and the actions compound into what looks from outside like fate. Yahweh heals the water and lets the wasteland end on its own. Rearranging circumstances while leaving the belief untouched costs a person the same year, lived again and again.

Live 2 Kings 2:21 today

  1. Catch one sentence you say to yourself today, I am bad at this, people always do this to me, and write down where you first learned it. Then write what you would have to believe instead for the rest of the day to go differently.
  2. When you are about to complain to a friend about the same thing for the fifth time, tell them instead what you think you believe that keeps putting you back there.
  3. In the middle of a tense exchange, before you answer, name quietly what you are assuming about the other person. Answer the actual person, not the assumption.

Which problem in your life have you been managing for years instead of fixing at the source?

All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts we make the world, so the one who corrects the thought has corrected everything that was going to grow out of it.

Tao Te Ching 64

Deal with a thing while it is still small and before it has taken shape. A tree the size of a house began as something a hand could have pulled up.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

Dig inside yourself, because the spring of good is there and will keep flowing if you keep clearing it. He did not say arrange your circumstances better.
