2 Samuel 15:26 Meaning But If He Says

but if he says, ‘I have no delight in you;’ behold, here I am. Let him do to me as seems good to him.

What does 2 Samuel 15:26 mean?

ʿUbūdiyya: Being a servant, with no claim on the master Servanthood names where a person stands before God, empty-handed. Someone who has just lost what made them important discovers they hold no leverage over God either, and that lands hard before it helps.

ʿUbūdiyya: Being a servant, with no claim on the master Servanthood names where a person stands before God, empty-handed. Someone who has just lost what made them important discovers they hold no leverage over God either, and that lands hard before it helps. Ibn Arabi returns to it constantly: the outcome was never theirs to steer, so handing it over takes away nothing they had.

Tawakkul: Putting your weight on God Trust means resting your weight on God once every other support is gone. Al-Ghazali pictures its highest form as a small child with its mother, reaching for her without a backup plan. Someone who cannot affect the answer either runs scenarios or sets the matter down, and only setting it down brings any quiet.

Riḍā: Being at peace with the decision, whichever way it falls Contentment means accepting God's decision even when it goes against you. Al-Ghazali treats it as love under test, since being pleased with good news costs nobody anything. The change inside is quiet: a person stops fighting a decision already made, and the strength they were pouring into protest comes back to them.

Qabḍ: Contraction, when the sense of God's nearness shuts off Contraction is the stretch when God feels far off and the heart goes flat. Sufi teachers treat it as coming from God, the same as the warm and open times, so it carries no verdict about whether a person has been thrown out. Someone braced for rejection can sit inside that flatness a long while without deciding it means they are finished.

If I love you for heaven, keep heaven from me: love that asks no payment Rabia prayed close to this. Love running on rewards falls apart the moment the rewards stop, and anyone facing the chance of being cast off finds out fast how theirs was built. Hers held even when nothing came back, because she had never treated God as someone who owed her.

Live 2 Samuel 15:26 today

  1. Something is pending that you cannot affect, a result, a decision, a message you are waiting on. Stop running the scenarios tonight and set it down, even if you have to set it down ten times.
  2. Tell one person honestly that you do not know how this is going to go, instead of performing confidence. Let the not knowing be said out loud between you.
  3. When a decision lands against you at work this week, give yourself the one honest reaction, then stop fighting it. The energy going into protest is energy you could use.

What are you still arguing with that has already been decided?

Stoicism · Epictetus, Enchiridion 1

Some things are up to us and most are not, and nearly all our misery comes from gripping the second kind. Peace starts where the honest inventory starts.

Bhagavad Gita 2:47

Do the work in front of you and let go of the result, because the result was never the part you controlled. The doing is yours, the outcome is not.

Tao Te Ching 78

What is soft and yielding outlasts what is hard and resisting. The strength spent pushing against a settled thing is simply strength thrown away.
