EGO & BEING
Cursed and shamed on the road, the old self would strike back to protect its wounded picture at any price. Here a man declines the reaction. He lets the insult land without becoming it, holding the pain in the open instead of feeding it with revenge.
And he leaves the outcome unforced, trusting that this affliction may yet be answered with good. When a person stops resisting what the moment carries, the hurt is no longer an enemy to defeat but a condition to be met with stillness. The place where he chose not to fight becomes an opening, and from that very ground something better can still arrive.

SELF-HELP
What a man decides an insult might be for determines whether he spends his strength on the insulter or the crisis.
Public humiliation gives a man about one second to assign it a meaning, and that assignment routes his strength into his hands or into his judgment. Holding open the possibility that Yahweh will repay is what steadies a man on a road already lost, and a king in that state does not require a corpse behind him in order to keep walking.
Refuse that reading and a man with a throne to recover spends his remaining force on the loudest person nearby, while the actual threat gathers strength ahead of him.
Ego v. Being lens
What might grow in the place where I chose not to hit back?
What gets in the way becomes the way. The obstacle is the material you work with, not the end of the work.
Water takes the low place and wears down what seems hardest. Yielding is not losing, it is a slower and surer kind of strength.
The field is ploughed before anything grows in it. What breaks the ground open is the same thing that makes it ready.
