When reality contradicts a certainty, the mind will rename reality before it revises the belief.

A feeling of certainty defends itself the way a body fights infection. Handed a report that does not fit, it reaches for whatever explanation keeps the frame standing, and calling the girl crazy costs nothing while opening the door would cost an entire picture of what God had done. The state holds, so the feet do not move.

People praying for a deliverance can be the last to accept one, because asking God for something and expecting it are two different states, and only the second walks to the door. A fence held that tightly costs the stretch of time between an answer arriving and a mind catching up to it.

Live Acts 12:15 today

  1. Take one thing you have been praying or hoping for and ask honestly what you would do today if it had already arrived. Then do the smallest piece of that.
  2. When someone tells you something that does not fit your picture, especially someone younger or less experienced, ask two real questions before you explain why they are wrong.
  3. If an answer shows up in a form you did not expect, a strange offer, an unlikely person, an email you almost deleted, go look at the door instead of debating it. You can always close it again.

What good news am I currently explaining away because it came the wrong way?
