Acts 17:30 · World English Bible
The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked. But now he commands that all people everywhere should repent,
For a long while the mind sleeps, and what it does in sleep cannot fairly be blamed. A person who has never looked inward lives by borrowed rules and calls it living.

PSYCHOANALYSIS
For a long while the mind sleeps, and what it does in sleep cannot fairly be blamed. A person who has never looked inward lives by borrowed rules and calls it living. This is the innocence of not yet knowing.
Then a moment comes when awareness wakes, and it cannot be put back to sleep. A man who has seen his own hidden motives can no longer pretend they are gone. This is what the old word repent means: not guilt, but turning the whole mind toward what it now knows. The demand to change comes because a person has become able to see.
Psychoanalysis lens
What have you already seen about yourself that you are still acting as if you have not?
The fool who knows he is a fool is that far wise already. Seeing clearly is the first turn, not the reward at the end.
It is impossible to begin learning what you think you already know. The moment you see your own error, the lesson has started.
To study the way is to study the self, and to study the self is to see through it. What you see cannot be unseen, so you walk differently after.
