SUFISM
Once you have decided, put your trust in God: resolve settles, then the outcome is let go The line comes from the Quran. Someone who has weighed a matter and settled it stops holding the decision open for review, whether the pressure comes from inside or from other people. Their share was the deciding, and what follows belongs to God, so they can move ahead without needing anyone's agreement.
Tark al-tadbīr: Leaving off the managing of outcomes Ibn Ata Allah called it resting from your own arranging. When you love someone, the mind keeps running plans: one more argument, one more reason, one more angle that might turn them around. Stopping feels like abandoning them, though the arguments had already spent themselves, and the extra pushing was easing your own fear more than helping.
Tafwīḍ: Handing the matter over to God The word means committing your affair to God, in the Quran's own phrase. People who cannot change someone's mind often begin blaming themselves in advance, as though failing to persuade made them the cause of the harm. Saying it out loud puts the matter back in God's hands, and they can love the person without having to protect them.
You may dislike a thing that is good for you: your view of the ending is partial The Quran says as much in a single line. Certainty that something will turn out badly feels like knowledge, but it is a forecast built from the little you can see. Stepping back doesn't require thinking the danger is small, only admitting that you cannot tell what it will lead to.
Riḍā: Being at peace with what God gives Al-Ghazali described it as the heart settling on what God has chosen. Grief stays; people who reach this still ache over what they could not prevent. The ache stops turning into protest, and the hours that would have gone to fighting the outcome go to staying close instead.

What am I still pushing on, long after the pushing stopped being about them?
Some things are up to us and some are not, and peace starts with telling the two apart. Your choice is yours, the outcome never was.
