Acts 21:24 · World English Bible

Acts 21:24 Meaning Take Them and Purify Yourself with Them

Take them and purify yourself with them, and pay their expenses for them, that they may shave their heads. Then all will know that there is no truth in the things that they have been informed about you, but that you yourself also walk keeping the law.

What does Acts 21:24 mean?

Purification of consciousness is shown by shaving the head, the old secret discipline of stripping away what covers the crown so the higher current can reach it. To take these others and cleanse alongside them is to bring the inner faculties through the same clearing, removing the growth that shadows the top of the skull where the divine enters.

Esoteric

Purification of consciousness is shown by shaving the head, the old secret discipline of stripping away what covers the crown so the higher current can reach it. To take these others and cleanse alongside them is to bring the inner faculties through the same clearing, removing the growth that shadows the top of the skull where the divine enters. Keeping the law is not obedience to a code but living in accord with the fixed order of energy in the body, the current that runs true when nothing obstructs it.

The shaved head marks a person who has cleared the crown and walks in step with the inner order, so the whole system of the self runs orderly along the law that governs the flow of spirit.

  1. Clear one thing off your head tonight instead of adding something. Delete the app you open without deciding to, or turn off the badges on two others, and leave the space empty rather than filling it.
  2. Do your clearing next to someone. Ask a friend or your partner to put phones face down on the table with you for the whole meal, so the two of you are getting uncovered together instead of you doing it alone and resenting them.
  3. When pressure hits at work, run the order you already know is true rather than improvising. Take the next thing in front of you, finish it, then the next, and let that steady current do what frantic effort cannot.

What is sitting on top of my attention right now that I have stopped seeing because it has been there so long?

The same truth in other traditions

Zen

A monk shaves his head not as decoration but as a plain removal of what the hands keep fussing over, so attention has nothing left to arrange and the mind sits uncovered.

Tao Te Ching

The way is not added to a person, it is uncovered in them by taking things away, and water runs true only where nothing dams it.

Hindu yoga tradition

The light at the top of the head is never missing, only screened, and practice is the steady clearing of what screens it rather than the making of light.
