Now why do you wait? Arise, be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’

What you do in the first minutes after you see the truth decides whether the truth ever changes you.

Every hour between a revelation and the first move belongs to the old identity, which spends it negotiating. A man blinded on a road already had the belief; what he lacked was a body that had acted on it. Action installs the belief that insight only describes.

The Lord's name said out loud where others can hear it costs something, and cost is what the nervous system files as true. Waiting does not keep a decision safe; it dissolves one, leaving a man with a vivid memory and the same habits he had the week before.

  1. The next time something lands clearly, give it its first move within the hour, however small. One message, one deletion, one walk around the block, one sentence written down.
  2. Say the thing out loud to someone where it costs you a little: the apology, the ask, the admission. Saying it where it can be heard is what makes your body file it as real.
  3. When the voice says you will act on this once things calm down, treat that voice as the old version of you negotiating. It is not protecting the decision, it is dissolving it.

What became clear to you recently that has still not been given a single action?

Zen

A student asks when to begin and the master answers with a question: what is the matter with now. Insight that waits for a better hour is handed back to the habits it was meant to break.

Bhagavad Gita 3

Krishna will not let Arjuna stand still and reflect; the seeing has to become the standing up. Understanding that produces no movement is not yet understanding.

Stoicism · Seneca

Seneca wrote that while we postpone, life hurries by, and that the delay between resolving and acting is where most lives are spent. Begin at once, he said, because the plan dissolves in the waiting.
