Acts 27:25 Meaning Therefore

Therefore, sirs, cheer up! For I believe God, that it will be just as it has been spoken to me.

What does Acts 27:25 mean?

Certainty in one person sets the emotional temperature of everyone within earshot, and temperature decides who keeps working. In a crisis people borrow their state from whoever carries the most certainty, and the borrowed state decides whether they eat, work the ropes, or give the ship up.

Certainty in one person sets the emotional temperature of everyone within earshot, and temperature decides who keeps working.

In a crisis people borrow their state from whoever carries the most certainty, and the borrowed state decides whether they eat, work the ropes, or give the ship up. A settled voice moves a crew further than a break in the weather, because emotion drives action and action is the only thing that puts a hull on a beach.

Standing on what God has spoken while the horizon offers nothing is what makes a prisoner the ranking man aboard, since authority in a storm transfers to whoever is least available to panic. The landfall gets credited afterward, though it was reached by men already behaving like survivors. Panic in the one person everyone is watching never stays in him; it spreads, and it costs a ship the work it needed from every pair of hands.

Live Acts 27:25 today

  1. Before you walk into something tense, take thirty seconds to slow your breathing and drop your shoulders. Whatever you carry in, the others will pick up within a minute.
  2. When someone in the house is coming apart about the bill or the diagnosis or the deadline, speak slower than you feel. Your calm is the thing they will borrow.
  3. In the meeting where the news is bad, be the one who asks the next practical question instead of the one who says how bad it is. Everyone is watching for permission to keep working.

Whose steadiness are you borrowing today, and who is borrowing yours?

He warned that we catch our states from one another the way a crowd passes on a sickness, so the work is to be the one who does not pass it on.

In the rocking boat, the passengers who panic are calmed not by words but by the one person still sitting as though the boat is a boat.
