Acts 28:23 Meaning When They Had Appointed Him a Day

When they had appointed him a day, many people came to him at his lodging. He explained to them, testifying about God’s Kingdom, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning until evening.

What does Acts 28:23 mean?

A whole day spent persuading, drawing on every scripture, points to the one work that matters inwardly. The kingdom of God is no place a person travels to, but the awareness of what he is and what his imagination can do.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

A whole day spent persuading, drawing on every scripture, points to the one work that matters inwardly. The kingdom of God is no place a person travels to, but the awareness of what he is and what his imagination can do. Convincing people of that takes patience, because the senses argue against it all day long.

And persuading concerning Jesus means bringing a person to accept the state he wants as already his. The whole labor from morning to evening is the labor of self-persuasion, holding a chosen conviction until it feels natural and undeniable. Conviction is the seed. A desire only takes root when a person is fully convinced of it within. That inner agreement, reached and held, is what afterward appears as the changed life outside.

  1. Give the same picture ten quiet minutes today, not ten different ones. The work is convincing yourself, and that takes repetition, not cleverness.
  2. When you talk with someone about your plans, stay patient if they are not convinced. Your job is your own inner agreement, not winning the conversation.
  3. In a long, draining stretch of the day, keep coming back to the one conviction you chose this morning. The senses will argue all day, so answer them all day.

What would it feel like to be fully convinced of this, not just hopeful about it?
