What does Acts 4:19 mean?

God in the sight of a person is his own I AM, the awareness of being that is the deepest authority he carries. To hearken to the men before him is to take his cue from the opinions and warnings of the outer world, letting other voices tell him what is possible and who he is.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

God in the sight of a person is his own I AM, the awareness of being that is the deepest authority he carries. To hearken to the men before him is to take his cue from the opinions and warnings of the outer world, letting other voices tell him what is possible and who he is. Peter and John set the two authorities side by side and refuse to let the outer one outrank the inner. The vision a person holds within is the word he is meant to obey.

This is where creation is decided. A person who listens to the crowd assumes the state the crowd assigns him, and lives it out. The one who listens to his own inner conviction assumes that instead, and it forms his world. Speaking and acting from the inner vision rather than from what others judge to be so is the whole practice named here. What a person consents to hear becomes what he becomes.

  3. In a meeting where everyone agrees on a limit you don't accept, hold your own picture without announcing it. You don't owe the room a debate, only your honest answer when asked.

Whose voice have I been treating as the final word?

The same truth in other traditions

Tao Te Ching 20

Everyone is certain and loud, and the one who hears something quieter looks foolish by comparison. Stay with the quieter thing anyway.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

Other people's opinions have been handed to them, not reasoned out. Measure yourself against what you know inside, not against the noise.

Bhagavad Gita

Follow the work and the nature that are truly yours, even imperfectly, rather than someone else's path performed well. The borrowed life will never fit.
