EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

When people gather and turn inward together in genuine stillness, something shifts in the very space around them. The old structures tremble, the walls outside and the walls of fear within. What shook that place was the sudden intensity of shared presence, which has nothing to do with personality.

This is why they could then speak without fear. Boldness like that does not come from a strong ego trying to be brave. It rises when the small, frightened self grows quiet and a deeper aliveness fills the space it leaves behind. Filled with that presence, they spoke plainly and freely, because no one was left inside them clinging to safety.

SUFISM

Sufism

They had every reason to whisper, to soften the truth so the powerful would not turn on them. That shrinking, trimming what is true to stay safe, is a fear that slowly hollows a person out.

So they prayed, and the room itself trembled, and the fear was answered from inside. Filled like empty cups suddenly brimming, they spoke without flinching. The boldness was not their own nerve but His presence poured through them. When a heart is emptied of its own defense, God fills the space, and even the walls feel it move.

Live Acts 4:31 today

  1. Before a conversation you are dreading, sit alone for two minutes and let yourself be quiet. Not rehearsing lines, just settling. You will walk in steadier than if you had scripted it.
  2. Sit with one friend today and let there be a stretch where neither of you is performing or filling air. Shared quiet is its own kind of closeness, and it changes what gets said next.
  3. When you have to say the hard true thing in a meeting or a group chat, say it plainly and without padding. The calm version lands harder than the defended one.

What would I say today if I were not protecting myself?
