Daniel 3:20 Meaning He Commanded Certain Mighty Men Who Were

He commanded certain mighty men who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

What does Daniel 3:20 mean?

Bound and thrown into the heat, the 3 lower parts of a person meet the fire that will not consume what is real in them. The physical nature, the reasoning intellect, and the surging emotions are cast together into the burning place high in the head, the vaulted chamber where the pineal light pours down its fire, and there the flame does not destroy but purifies, for these 3 are not the spirit and cannot be its fuel.

What binds them is a lower authority that would see them undone, yet the same fire meant to end them is the fire that frees them, releasing a fourth who was never named in the sentence, the spirit that walks unhurt among them once the heat has done its work.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: the 3 lower natures of a person, the physical body, the reasoning intellect, and the surging emotions bound together Fiery furnace: the fornix, the vaulted chamber in the head fired by the pineal light above it, where the flame burns away the dross and leaves the spirit untouched

Live Daniel 3:20 today

  1. When a hard feeling arrives, let it move all the way through you without reaching for your phone. Stay for the whole wave and see what is left standing afterward.
  2. Sit with someone in their worst hour without trying to put the fire out. Your calm presence tells them something in them is not burning.
  3. In a moment that feels like too much, say quietly: this can shake me, it cannot end me. Then do the next small ordinary thing, make the call, wash the dish, send the reply.

What in you has been through fire already and is still here?

Bhagavad Gita 2

Weapons do not cut it, fire does not burn it. What you most deeply are is not the kind of thing that can be destroyed.

Zen

In the middle of the burning house, where is the one who is not burning? Look for that, and the flames become a question instead of a threat.

Sufism

The fire that frightens the moth is the same fire that ends its restlessness. What looks like ruin from outside is release from inside.
