Daniel 4:23 Meaning Whereas the King Saw a Watcher

Whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from the sky, and saying, ‘Cut down the tree, and destroy it; nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and bronze, in the tender grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of the sky. Let his portion be with the animals of the field, until seven times pass over him.

What does Daniel 4:23 mean?

The watcher is the conscious observer inside a person, and watching is what turns the streaming waves of the cosmos into particles received through the pineal. That act of attention comes down from Uranus, the Greek heaven, the field of light overhead, and it fells the proud spine.

The watcher is the conscious observer inside a person, and watching is what turns the streaming waves of the cosmos into particles received through the pineal. That act of attention comes down from Uranus, the Greek heaven, the field of light overhead, and it fells the proud spine. The trunk is cut and the man drops back into his lower animal nature, feeding in the grass with the beasts, because the ruling mind that stood tall has been brought low.

What survives is the stump and its roots, banded in iron and brass, held in the earth of the ordinary mind until the process finishes. The number 7 is completion, so the wet, grazing exile lasts until a full cycle of change has passed over him and the operator wakes again.

Watcher: the conscious observer within, whose looking collapses the wave into the particle it receives Tree: the spine, the standing trunk of the body that the ruling ego has climbed Heaven: Uranus, the field of light above from which the higher current descends Beasts of the field: the lower animal mind a person falls into when the higher rule is cut off Earth: the ordinary mind, the ground the roots are kept in 7: completion, a full cycle turning until the change is finished

Live Daniel 4:23 today

  1. If something of yours has been cut back lately, a job, a plan, a version of yourself you liked, give it ten quiet minutes today without trying to rebuild it. Let it be a stump for now and trust that the roots are still there.
  2. With one person today, drop the standing-tall version of yourself. Admit the thing you are actually in the middle of, unfinished, no tidy ending attached.
  3. When pressure hits and you feel yourself sliding into the worst, hungriest version of you, scrolling, snapping, eating without tasting, name the season out loud to yourself: this is the low stretch, it has an end. Then do the next small ordinary thing anyway.

What is still alive underground in me that I have been writing off as dead?

Tao Te Ching 76

The stiff and towering tree is the one the storm snaps; the soft and low survives. What bends and stays near the ground outlasts what stands proud.

Zen

Before you can be filled, you have to be emptied, and the emptying feels like loss. A cup that keeps nothing is the one ready to hold something.

Bhagavad Gita

What is cut away in a season of darkness is only the outer form. The root in you was never touched by it, and from that root the whole thing grows back.
