Deuteronomy 16:1 Meaning Observe the Month of Abib

Observe the month of Abib, and keep the Passover to Yahweh your God; for in the month of Abib Yahweh your God brought you out of Egypt by night.

What does Deuteronomy 16:1 mean?

The month of the green ear is the ripening season within a person, when the sun of awareness enters its spring and the pineal gland stirs awake at the top of the head. Passover is the crossing from the left side of the mind to the right, energy moving up the body until the lower nature is stepped over and left behind.

The month of the green ear is the ripening season within a person, when the sun of awareness enters its spring and the pineal gland stirs awake at the top of the head. Passover is the crossing from the left side of the mind to the right, energy moving up the body until the lower nature is stepped over and left behind. The deliverance comes by night because it happens in the inner darkness, the stillness where the racing mind has gone quiet.

Egypt is the lower, carnal mind, the bondage of thinking only in flesh and fear. Being brought out is no march across sand but the ripening self rising past its old ground into higher awareness.

Abib: the green-ear month, the ripening season inside a person when awareness comes to spring Passover: the crossing from the left hemisphere to the right, energy stepping over the lower nature Egypt: the lower carnal mind, the bondage of thinking only in flesh Night: the inner darkness of stilled thought where the deliverance quietly happens

Live Deuteronomy 16:1 today

  1. Find your quietest ten minutes today, early morning or last thing at night, and sit in it with the lights low. Things open in that dark quiet that will not open in the middle of the noise.
  2. With one person today, step over your usual reaction. The old snap you always make, let it pass and say the kinder thing instead.
  3. When fear starts running the show at work, name it as fear, then put your attention on your breath for a few seconds. That small step across is the whole move.

What in me is ripe right now, waiting for me to step over the old way?

Zen

The pine grows in its own season and so does a person. Awakening has a ripening hour, and there is a right time when something inside simply comes to spring.

Hinduism · Upanishads

In the stillness beyond the chattering mind the self shows itself. The crossing happens in quiet, not in the noise of the day.

Taoism · Zhuangzi

The cook sheds his old way of cutting and moves with what is there. He steps over the clumsy self he used to be and does not go back to it.
