Deuteronomy 32:8 Meaning When the Most High Gave

When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the children of men, he set the bounds of the peoples according to the number of the children of Israel.

What does Deuteronomy 32:8 mean?

The dividing described here happens inside one person, not across a map. The Most High is a man's own awareness, and the nations are the many states of feeling he can enter, each with its own borders.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The dividing described here happens inside one person, not across a map. The Most High is a man's own awareness, and the nations are the many states of feeling he can enter, each with its own borders. Poverty has a boundary. So does confidence, so does grief. Awareness parcels out to each state exactly the range of experience that belongs to it.

A person inherits whichever country of feeling he chooses to live in. Step into the state of being wanted, and its whole territory opens, its friends, its ease, its luck. Step into rejection, and life narrows to that nation's fenced ground. The bounds were set by awareness itself, which knows what each mood contains. A man does not fight for a better portion. He moves house, into the state whose inheritance he would rather claim, and its allotted world becomes his own.

Live Deuteronomy 32:8 today

  1. When you catch yourself inside a narrow mood, do not argue with it. Pick the state you would rather live in, step into it like a different room, and let its small ordinary details fill in.
  2. If someone comes to you pulled down into a hard mood, do not reason with the mood. Be plainly in a better one beside them, and let them come across if they want to.
  3. In a tense meeting or a tough call, feeling cornered and short of options, stop trying to win more room where you are. Move into the settled version of yourself first, then speak, and watch how much more is available.

Which country of feeling have I been living in, and would I renew the lease?

Yoga Vasistha

Each mood is a world with its own horizon, and the mind that enters one receives everything that world contains. Change the mood and you have changed countries.

Buddhism

A state of mind arrives with its whole landscape: its company, its weather, its possibilities. Nobody negotiates better conditions inside grief; they leave it.

Zhuangzi

The frog in the well argues about the size of the sky. He is not wrong about his well. He is only living in a small country.
