Ephesians 1:4 · World English Bible
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love,
Chosen before the foundation of the world means the end was settled first. The ideal a person is meant to become already stands complete within imagination, waiting to be occupied, older than any circumstance that seems to block it.
From the Manifestation reading below.

MANIFESTATION
Chosen before the foundation of the world means the end was settled first. The ideal a person is meant to become already stands complete within imagination, waiting to be occupied, older than any circumstance that seems to block it. Nothing outside decided this. The pattern was laid in consciousness before a single stone of the visible world was set.
Holy and without blame is a state, not a verdict on behavior. Held in the feeling of the wish fulfilled, a mind stands clean of the accusations the senses keep bringing. Love is that steady dwelling in the thing desired as already so. What a person consents to be within is what he becomes. The choice was made at the root, and it holds.

CYBERNETICS
Before a single failure was on record, before the world was laid down, the choice was already made and the picture already drawn: holy, without blame, standing in love. That portrait predates every scar a person later collects.
The blameless self came first. It was no late invention of the man himself but the original design, set before he had anything to be ashamed of. His striving mechanism holds an ancient target to steer back toward, one older than any mistake.

SUFISM
I was a hidden treasure and I loved to be known: love started everything Sufis repeat this saying as God's own account of why anything exists. Wanting comes first in it, before anyone arrived to earn that wanting or fall short of it. For a person who suspects they came about by accident, the loving sits before the world rather than after it.
Aʿyān thābita: The settled realities of things in God's knowledge Ibn Arabi used this for each thing known as itself long before it was made. You were someone in particular to him before you had a face, a name, or a single day behind you. That takes the sting out of being one of billions, since the choosing landed on a specific person with the details already in view.
Am I not your Lord: the yes said before anyone was born The Quran tells of God asking all souls this question, and every one of them answering yes. Sufis hold that the yes is still inside a person, under the noise, which is why certain words land like something remembered. Belonging that old does not rise and fall with how the last few years have gone.
Fiṭra: The clean nature a person is born with A saying of the Prophet has every child born in this original condition. Being spotless, then, describes where a person started, not a prize handed out at the end. The task changes shape when the aim is getting back to something you already had.
Taṣfiya: Clearing the heart Al-Ghazali compared the heart to a mirror that shows nothing while dust and rust cover it. The clearing happens by taking things off: old grudges, small dishonesties, the constant hunger to be admired. Someone afraid they can never add enough goodness finds that most of the job is removal.
Maḥabba: Love The Quran names God's love for people before it names their love for him, and Sufis lean hard on that order. Love in this sense answers a warmth already pointed at a person, rather than being worked up from scratch. Holiness grows inside that affection rather than being the price paid for it.
Manifestation lens
If the end were already settled in my favor, how would I carry today?
The uncarved block already holds the shape. Nothing has to be added to it, only the excess let go.
You are already that. The self you are reaching for is not earned at the end, it was the ground you were standing on the whole time.
The moon is full behind the clouds. Its wholeness never waited on the weather.
