Exodus 11:7 Meaning But Against Any of the Children

But against any of the children of Israel a dog won’t even bark or move its tongue, against man or animal, that you may know that Yahweh makes a distinction between the Egyptians and Israel.

What does Exodus 11:7 mean?

When spirit, mind, and energy are joined in a person, the lower appetites lose their voice against that union. Israel is the union within, isis the spirit and ra the mind and el the god within, and against that joined self not a dog moves its tongue.

When spirit, mind, and energy are joined in a person, the lower appetites lose their voice against that union. Israel is the union within, isis the spirit and ra the mind and el the god within, and against that joined self not a dog moves its tongue. The dog is the part held captive to lower desire, the appetite that snarls and accuses, and it falls silent before the one who has gathered the higher faculties together.

Egypt is what holds a person in bondage, the lower country of the mind, and the higher mind puts a plain difference between the 2. Where the being is still bound, the beast within barks against man and animal alike. Where it is united and lifted, the same appetite cannot lift its tongue. The bondage and the freedom stand in the same head, and the higher mind separates them: in the one, the dog rages; in the other, it has nothing to say.

Dog: the part of a person held captive to lower desire, the accusing appetite that snarls Egyptians: that which holds you in bondage, the lower country of the mind Israel: the union of spirit, mind, and the god within, isis and ra and el joined in one being

Live Exodus 11:7 today

  1. When the urge hits today, the snack, the scroll, the cigarette, the refresh, do not argue with it. Sit still for sixty seconds and let it talk itself out while you stay where you are.
  2. Someone will say something sharp in a chat or across the table. Take one full breath before you answer, and answer from the steadier part of you instead of the part that wants to bite back.
  3. In traffic or when a deadline collapses, feel the snarl rise. Keep your hands steady, keep your voice at normal volume, and let the dog in you have no tongue for one minute.

What loses its voice in you when you are gathered rather than scattered?

Stoicism · Epictetus

When you are gathered and clear, the insult arrives and finds nothing to grab. The same words that wrecked you yesterday pass straight through today.

Buddhism · Dhammapada

The unguarded mind is pulled apart by every craving that barks at it. The collected mind stands still and the barking stops mattering.

Tao Te Ching 33

Mastering others takes force. Being whole in yourself is the real strength, and nothing outside can bite into it.
