Exodus 13:2 Meaning Sanctify to Me All the Firstborn

“Sanctify to me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of animal. It is mine.”

What does Exodus 13:2 mean?

The first thing to come out of a person belongs to the higher, and the firstborn is the first pure impulse of the awakening mind, the earliest fruit of consciousness before appetite claims it. To open the womb is to break through the enclosed lower nature into new life, and whatever makes that first breach is set apart as sacred.

Both man and beast are named because the reasoning part and the animal part each yield a firstborn, and the finest of each is owed upward. The claim it is mine states the law plainly: the initial and highest energy of any birth within belongs to the divine and is not to be spent on the body.

Firstborn: the first pure impulse of the awakening mind, owed to the higher before appetite takes it Womb: the enclosed lower nature out of which new life must break Beast: the animal part of a person, which yields its own first fruit alongside the reasoning part
