Exodus 14:14 Meaning Yahweh Will Fight for You

Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still.

What does Exodus 14:14 mean?

There is a deeper intelligence within you than the anxious, calculating mind. When you struggle and strategize against every difficulty, you are acting only from the small self that believes it must control everything.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

There is a deeper intelligence within you than the anxious, calculating mind. When you struggle and strategize against every difficulty, you are acting only from the small self that believes it must control everything.

To hold your peace is to become still inside, to stop resisting what already is. In that stillness you are not being passive. You are letting a greater intelligence move through you, one that sees clearly precisely because it is not clouded by fear. When you surrender the inner war, the situation is met by something wiser than your frightened thoughts, and it acts for you.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

At the edge of the deep water, with the old bondage rushing up behind, the work of crossing is not done by struggle but by stillness. The higher power seated within moves on its own once the noise of the personal will goes quiet, and holding one's peace is the settling of the restless mind so that current can act.

The LORD is the ruling consciousness at the top of the body, and it carries a person through the divided waters while the lower self stops thrashing. What frees you is not effort but the inner stillness that lets the higher force take over.

CYBERNETICS

Cybernetics

A crowd stood trapped against the sea with an army behind them, and the instruction was strange: stand still. Effort was not what the moment needed. Frantic striving would only churn the fear higher and freeze the mind that had to act.

When a person stops thrashing and grows quiet, a deeper power in him goes to work, the automatic mechanism that solves what the anxious will cannot force. Holding one's peace clears the noise so the thing that fights for a person can move. The battle is won by the part that runs best once the frightened self finally releases the controls.

AWARENESS

Indian Guru

There is a point where every effort of the doer becomes the obstacle. Trapped between an army and a sea, the mind runs faster, and that running is precisely what keeps a man from seeing the opening in front of him. Stillness is not passivity; it is the ego stepping aside so that something wider than calculation can move.

That wider thing is no helper standing outside. Call it existence, call it the whole; it is already acting, and the frantic pushing of the individual has only been interference. A man who becomes utterly quiet finds the situation beginning to arrange itself, and he was never the one carrying it.

Live Exodus 14:14 today

  1. Pick one thing today you have been pushing uphill, and set it down for a few hours. See whether some of it works itself out without your hand on it.
  2. When you catch yourself drafting the perfect comeback for an argument that has not happened, let it go. Walk into the actual conversation with nothing prepared.
  3. Under real pressure today, take three slow breaths before you act. Not to do nothing, but so what you do comes from a clearer place than panic.

Where are you fighting a battle that would be handled better if you stopped?

The Tao does nothing, and yet nothing is left undone. Work gets done through it, not by straining against it.

Bhagavad Gita

Act without grasping at the fruits of the action. Doing your part while releasing the outcome is a kind of inner quiet in the middle of the fight.

Zen

The still pond reflects the mountain exactly. A ruffled one shows nothing clearly, however hard it tries.
