ESOTERIC

Esoteric

A passage opens through the mass of feeling that seems to bar all escape. The sea is the emotional nature, the deep and moving waters of the lower self that drown a person who cannot cross them. The extended hand is the focused will laid across that flood, and under a steady spiritual pressure the churning parts and a dry road appears where there was only depth.

The strong east wind is the breath and the inflowing spirit rising from the place of dawn, the direction of new light. It blows the whole night through, the long dark stretch of trial, until the emotional waters stand back and the striving self walks across on solid ground. The overwhelming inner tide can be divided and passed when the higher will holds firm.

Sea: the emotional nature, the deep moving waters of the lower self that threaten to drown the crosser. East wind: the inbreathed spirit arriving from the quarter of dawn and new light, parting the flood. Night: the long dark stretch of trial through which the crossing must be held.

Live Exodus 14:21 today

  1. When a wave of anxiety or sadness arrives, put one hand on your chest and breathe slowly for ten breaths. You are not fixing the feeling, you are holding steady over it until the ground shows.
  2. When someone unloads a flood of emotion on you, stay calm in your own body rather than matching their level. Your steadiness is the dry path they walk out on.
  3. In a tense call or traffic jam that gets your heart racing, lengthen your out-breath for one minute before you speak or move. The pressure drops before the situation does.

What have I been trying to swim through when I could have waited for it to open?
