Exodus 21:17 Meaning Anyone Who Curses His Father

Anyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

What does Exodus 21:17 mean?

To curse the father and the mother is to turn against the mind and the spirit within you, the 2 sources from which everything else in a person is born, and the death that follows is not an execution by a court but the symbolic release of the angle of light from the body when a person cuts himself off from his own higher origin. Reject the mind and the spirit and the light that animates you withdraws.

Reject the mind and the spirit and the light that animates you withdraws.

This is exactly where religion does its theft. It takes this inner truth, that a person lives by honoring the mind and the spirit that generate him, and resells it as a commandment enforced from outside, a rule with a penalty, when the real penalty is simply what happens inside a person who severs himself from his own source.

Live Exodus 21:17 today

  1. Today, when the running commentary in your head turns on you, let one round of it go unanswered. The voice that mocks your own thinking is not keeping you honest, it is cutting the line you are hanging from.
  2. With someone close, drop the rule you quote at them and say the actual thing underneath it. Rules make people defend themselves, plain words let them come closer.
  3. When someone puts a rule over you at work, ask yourself quietly what the rule is trying to protect. You can follow it without handing over the part of you that can still think.

Am I honoring my own mind today, or just borrowing somebody else's rule about it?
