Exodus 24:11 · World English Bible
He didn’t lay his hand on the nobles of the children of Israel. They saw God, and ate and drank.
The higher faculties of a person, the nobles who have climbed the mount of the head, are not struck down when they come into the presence of their own divine ground; the ruling mind lays no destroying hand on them. Israel is the one who has striven and prevailed with God, the awareness that has wrestled the flesh into order, and its noblest powers now stand and behold the source without being consumed.

ESOTERIC
The higher faculties of a person, the nobles who have climbed the mount of the head, are not struck down when they come into the presence of their own divine ground; the ruling mind lays no destroying hand on them. Israel is the one who has striven and prevailed with God, the awareness that has wrestled the flesh into order, and its noblest powers now stand and behold the source without being consumed. Eating and drinking is the taking in of that light as nourishment, the inner senses feeding directly on spirit rather than on the world below. This is communion at the summit, the awakened parts of a person sitting in the radiance and drawing their life straight from it.
The finest powers within a person meet the divine at the top of the body and are fed by it instead of destroyed, taking that presence in like food.
Nobles of Israel: the highest faculties of the person that have striven and prevailed, refined enough to stand before their own source Eat and drink: the inner taking-in of divine light as nourishment, the higher senses feeding directly on spirit

Where in my life am I braced for harm when I am actually being offered something good?
The deepest self and the ground of all being are not two things, so meeting it is not being destroyed by it. The one who looks straight at the source finds their own face there.
The person who has settled their appetites can stand in the middle of the great mystery without flinching. Fear of the vastness comes from still being at war with yourself.
The seeker expects to be burned and is instead fed. What looked like a fire turns out to be a table set for the guest.
