Exodus 26:1 · World English Bible

Exodus 26:1 Meaning Moreover You Shall Make the Tabernacle

Moreover you shall make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, with cherubim. You shall make them with the work of a skillful workman.

What does Exodus 26:1 mean?

The tabernacle to be constructed is the human brain, and the 10 curtains woven in their colors are the layered coverings of the head, each hue a grade of the life within. Purple is the regal wisdom and understanding folded into the structure, scarlet the divine life running through it, blue the reach toward the higher air, all twined into the fine linen of the inner sanctuary.

The cherubims worked into the fabric are not ornaments but the pituitary and pineal centers set within the tabernacle of the head, the guarding faculties woven into the very walls of the brain where spirit is housed.

Live Exodus 26:1 today

  1. When a feeling lands today, sit with it long enough to find what is under it. Anger is usually a curtain, and there is another one behind it.
  2. When someone snaps at you, treat their first words as the outer layer and not the whole person. Ask one more question before you decide what you heard.
  3. Under pressure, name what you are actually feeling instead of the loudest version of it. Tired is not the same as furious, and knowing which one you are saves the afternoon.

What is sitting one layer under the first thing I feel today?

The same truth in other traditions

Buddhism

The person is described as a set of layered sheaths, form, feeling, perception, each one a covering rather than the whole. Awareness lives inside all of them at once.

Hinduism · Taittiriya Upanishad

The self is pictured in nested coverings, from the body of food out to the body of joy, each finer than the last. You go inward by layers, not by one jump.

Sufism

The teachers speak of veils between the seeker and the light, each one thinner than the one before. They are not walls; they are curtains.
